kristin, "my life as a teacup"

Hi, I’m Kristin.

As a native Pittsburgher, I’ve come to love and appreciate my city’s transformation from a steel town to something undoubtedly more modern in every respect. I’ve also come to appreciate the many types of pierogi this city is known for. I recently moved to Pittsburgh’s West End with my boyfriend and our rescue pup. We’re finding as many opportunities to travel and explore in between fixing up the many creaks of an old 1920s house. Frustrating as it may be at times, it’s home.

I studied English Literature & Japanese at The University of Pittsburgh, and received my masters in Secondary English Education from Chatham University in 2013. After a brief stint as a high school English teacher, I realized that my lifelong love of languages is rooted in tech, not traditional literacy. Currently, I work at a marketing agency and help others tell their business’s story/figure out just what the heck Snapchat is. I’ve since rekindled a love of website design and development (things have come a long way since I built my first Sailor Moon fansite with tables in high school) and am currently diving headfirst into the world of front-end development. My dream job? Taking my linguistics background, merging it with my love of technology, and creating a multi-lingual robot dragon that can take over the world making an impact on how the literary arts and technology interact.

I love hot beverages, though I probably drink more coffee than tea these days; lazy Sundays at home with a good urban fantasy novel or literary fiction; playing Bioshock for the umpteenth time; or baking things that include Guinness as an ingredient.

Why don’t you stay awhile?
